A Headshot and Resume Intensive
Prepare your resume and headshot for the audition process with this masterclass led by Director Sommer Schoch and with a special mini headshot session by Mark Latham. You will learn what a director is really looking for on a resume, tips for the perfect headshot, and how your audition materials should showcase you at your next big audition.
This workshop takes place across two days – Friday, August 23rd from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 24th 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Participants must be able to attend both sessions to receive the full value of the workshop. Lunch will be provided during the Saturday session.

What to Expect in Professional Auditions? Sommer Schoch will give important insight into what the procedure of professional auditions entail. She will explain what the role of resumes and headshots play in this process, what materials are best to choose for an audition, and professional etiquette an actor should know.
How to Prepare for Headshots? Photographer Mark Latham will instruct the group about important considerations in how you should properly prepare for a professional headshot in anticipation of the mini headshot session that will take place on Saturday. Each individual will receive personalized feedback on what they should wear for their best headshot.
Mock Auditions- Put yourself into a simulated audition room and get feedback from a professional director in real time. Learn how to present yourself going into and leaving the audition room by observing selected students in a mock audition with real time feedback from a stage director. This audition masterclass will prepare you for what to expect in an audition room and will allow select participants to get feedback on their audition behavior.
Saturday August 24th, 10:00-1:00pm
Mini Headshot Session- All participants will be given a mini headshot session by photographer Mark Latham. They will receive an edited digital image after the workshop they can use in their upcoming auditions.
Resume Workshop- Bring a laptop or device and create your very own performance resume. Receive individual feedback from Sommer Schoch on how to tailor your resume to showcase your best self in an audition room.
Lunch Forum- During lunch, we will discuss the process of promoting yourself to get performing work. Included in the discussion will be how to utilize video and create self tapes to get work as an actor as well as how to establish your identity as an artist in the digital space of social media and online casting.
About the Artists
Sommer Schoch is the founder and Producing Artistic Director of FbTC. In a decade of Flashback history: she has directed 18 productions; overseen the development of programming that drives artists to develop their skills and talents through masterclasses, workshops, and new play development; and established connections to a community that values experiencing art in our world. Before FbTC, Sommer graduated from Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music with dual Master’s degrees in Arts Administration and Business Administration.
Mark Latham is an Associate at Linkes Photography, where he specializes in crafting and capturing visual narratives that weave together emotions and colors, with stories they tell. With years of experience, Mark has continually refined his skills, always seeking new perspectives and pushing creative boundaries. His approach to photography is grounded in a deep appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us, using the lens to capture and reveal the honesty and rawness of each moment. Mark is dedicated to framing these moments with care, aspiring to be an architect of the beauty he sees in the world.
